Wishing all a Happy and Prosperous Diwali

Sree Ramadasa Mission wishes a Happy Diwali to all. On this auspicious occasion, celebrations with prayers , feasts and fireworks are going on at Ramagiri.

Swami Krishnananda Saraswathy has the following message for all devotees ” On this auspicious and bright occasion, let us all remember Sree Rama and the sacrifices He made; let us remember Swamiji and the pain He took for everyone’s prosperity.

In enjoying our festivities, let us borrow the light of blessing and inspiration from Swamiji ; let us also remember to give light to the great projects He envisioned, by means of our devotion and dedication ; in such a way I pray that we all may rejuvenate ourselves at the lotus feet of God.

May all have a wonderful and happy Diwali . Jai SitaRam.”

About Diwali:

Diwali celebrates Lord Rama’s glorious and long-awaited return to his Kingdom of Ayodhya after fourteen long years of exile in the forests. It commemorates Lord Krishna’s victory over the demon Narakaasura who had kidnapped and terrorized the gopis of Vrindavan.

A well-intended , but badly misguided comment

The Ramagiri Journal had published an article on Sept. 10, 2008

http://words.srdaramagiri.org/?p=141

titled  New conversion attempt; Priests become ‘Swamis’, run TV show!

We received a comment from one ‘Jose’ on the article :

This is surprising!
Who found out these ‘Discoveries’?
Catholics & Christians are here in India since 2000 years.
There are no conversion centres in India.
But the Indian constitution gives the right to preach ones faith.
No one is forced to join any religion.
If a person feels to go for Christian prayers, it is his free will and why the fundamentalist Hindus are afraid of it.
Let us live peacefully and let others live peacefully.

We are sure Jose had good intentions, but his claims are far from reality. Here is an open reply to Jose and an appeal to all peace-loving Christians to please introspect …..

Dear Jose,
We wish what you are saying were true. But it is not the case. Conversion activities by force and monetary lure are rampant in India. It is really very sad, as everyone should be free to practice his own religion.  It is like asking someone to leave their mother for the sake of money.

If you must know, Swami Sathyananda Saraswathy had many Muslim and Christian (including priests) devotees, who would sneakily take prasad , etc. from Him. But never showed it outside for fear of being excommunicated from their own community. Swamiji Himself preached Humanism above all. And he never asked any of those people to convert to Hinduism. It is free and voluntary. The soul requires no conversion, only prayer.
