The Ramagiri Journal had published an article on Sept. 10, 2008

titled New conversion attempt; Priests become ‘Swamis’, run TV show!
We received a comment from one ‘Jose’ on the article :
This is surprising!
Who found out these ‘Discoveries’?
Catholics & Christians are here in India since 2000 years.
There are no conversion centres in India.
But the Indian constitution gives the right to preach ones faith.
No one is forced to join any religion.
If a person feels to go for Christian prayers, it is his free will and why the fundamentalist Hindus are afraid of it.
Let us live peacefully and let others live peacefully.
We are sure Jose had good intentions, but his claims are far from reality. Here is an open reply to Jose and an appeal to all peace-loving Christians to please introspect …..
Dear Jose,
We wish what you are saying were true. But it is not the case. Conversion activities by force and monetary lure are rampant in India. It is really very sad, as everyone should be free to practice his own religion. It is like asking someone to leave their mother for the sake of money.
If you must know, Swami Sathyananda Saraswathy had many Muslim and Christian (including priests) devotees, who would sneakily take prasad , etc. from Him. But never showed it outside for fear of being excommunicated from their own community. Swamiji Himself preached Humanism above all. And he never asked any of those people to convert to Hinduism. It is free and voluntary. The soul requires no conversion, only prayer.

“If my disciples killed two children of our Ahmedabad Gurukul, then hang me. I take responsibility. I am ready for that. I have complete faith in my disciples. They even can not beat a dog, they even don’t kill snake at our ashram. How they can kill two boys? Those who listened to Geeta and Bhagwat and joined ashram for service can kill the innocent boys?” said Asaram bapu in his Delhi’s Guru poornima gathering on Saturday morning, fighting back to continuous media reports alleging ashram’s direct or indirect involvement and suspicious role in two children’s death.

The temple at Ramagiri was recently renovated and expanded to twice its previous size. The work was carried out at a fast pace to avoid inconveniencing devotees during the monsoons. All structural work is now complete. There is ample space for about 150 devotees to comfortably pray, sing bhajans, etc. within the temple. More people can sit and chant during Havan now. This is in addition to the huge seating area present in the Hall in front of the temple.
The temple now houses five Sreekovils (pooja enclosures). The last one, Jyoti-Mandir is nearing completion.
