Gurupoornima 2011 celebrated
A summary of the grand Gurupoornima Celebrations at See Ramadasa Ashram , Ramagiri , on 15 July 2011:
The morning Pooja was completed by 8:00 a.m. followed by the starting of the recital of the Adhyatma Ramayana. On every Saturday as well as every important holy day the entire Adhyatma Ramayana is recited in Malayalam followed by the Pattabhishek Pooja of Sree Rama Chandra.
The flow of devotees started from morning. They came from Vasai, Dombivili, Badlapur, Mulund, Thane, Kalyan, Ambeshiv and various other places. Continuous Archana of the Lalita Sahasranam went on by the visiting devotees. At 10:00 a.m. the Havan was started by Swami Krishnananda Saraswathy. Devotees Manoj, Kishore and Suyog from Vasai sat chanting mantras and giving oblations of ghee, til, aval, dry coconut, honey, etc. The smoke from the Havan Kund spread throughout the temple pervading it with an unearthly fragrance. At 12:00 p.m. the havan was concluded the amidst a group chanting of Hanuman Chalisa.
After the Havan Swamiji took out the Sree Rama Padukas from the Veda shrine. He performed the Paduka Pooja of Bade Swamiji on the Sree Rama Paduka. Flowers, garlands and rose water was offered to the Guru’s Padukas. Then Swamiji placed the Padukas in the center of the temple and all the devotes worshipped Them individually. Swamiji led the way with the burning camphor flame in his left palm and carrying the Padukas we circumambulated the entire temple amidst a melodious chanting of the Hanuman Chalisa. It was a dry day and no rainfall had occurred since morning. But the moment we stepped out with Padukas a strong drizzle began – a sure sign of blessing from the Devas. This is an occurance that has been witnessed by thousands of people at numerous moments of Pooja and Havan performed by Swamiji or our Great Gurus. At the end of the Parikrama Swamiji himself placed the Padukas at the lotus feet of Lord Hanumanji.
After performing the Paduka Pooja of his Gurudev Swamiji began leaving the temple announcing that it was time for Annadan. Immediately a restless murmur of protest stirred up amongst the devotees. Their Pooja was incomplete. They wanted to pour their hearts out to Swamiji.
A devotee washed Swamiji’s feet with water scented with fresh rose petals. Then he applied the holy marks on them with bhasma, haldi, kum kum and chandan. After the camphor Arti all devotees placed offerings of flowers at Swamiji’s feet. Some devotees placed shawls and garlands on his neck. Throughout the time Swamiji was sitting still.
After all had done Swamiji’s Pada Pooja, Swamiji distributed fruits as Prasad by throwing them into thrilled arms of the devotees.
The Poojas were followed by a grand Annadan in which the devotees coming from all respectable walks of city life sat and ate side by side with the poor Adivasi children and people from nearby villages .
At 6:30 p.m., the evening Pooja started. After it the Aarti was sung. Then the Ramayana recital was completed by 9:15 p.m. This was followed by the most auspicious Pattabhisheka Pooja. It follows all the events that occur after Sree Rama returns to Nandigram and meets Bharat uptil His being crowned as the King of Ayodhya. Swamiji distributed the Payasam symbolising the distribution of gifts by Sree Rama after His coronation. Then all the devotees present there sat and listened to Swamiji’s Gurupoornima message (which will be uploaded on this site soon). Finally, all celebrations came to an end by night 11:30 p.m.
All devotees are invited to participate on such divine occasions to strengthen both their spiritual foundation as well as the foundations of modern society and polity. By the grace and penance of the Guru all will be well.
Jai Sita Ram.
