An appeal to all Hindus by H.H. Swami Krishnananda Saraswati:

Sabarimala, the abode of Lord Ayyappa, is a place of unity and harmony. The recent vile attempts by vested interests to project this Holy place as unsafe and deter devotees from going there is an insult to millions of Hindus all over the world. People forget their entire material possessions just to pilgrimage there and see Lord Ayyappa, to pray there and fulfill all their material and spiritual desires. It is a place of salvation and prosperity.

Swamiji (H. H. Jagadguru Swami Sathyananda Saraswathy) foresaw the problems devotees would face many years ago and through toil and penance devised the ‘Harivaraasanam Project’ for the benefit of humanity. But the inept Government sat on it and allowed the lack of planning to continue which has resulted in the mishaps we are seeing today. It is no surprise that opportunists and politically sponsored media are trying to use this to encourage people to stop doing pilgrimage. These are modern-day demons who tell people to quit praying and hide in their houses to stay safe. A person can die while sitting in the house, crossing the road, or in a hospital also. Does it mean one should stay 24 hours at home?

No! Go, pray and earn your salvation. Let the skies resound year after year with the sound of ‘Sharanam Ayyappa’.

When gas cylinders explode during Haj, does the same media appeal to muslims to stop doing Haj? Never. Instead the saudi Arabia govt. tried to improve the facilities. But here the Indian Govt. will keep its eyes, ears and nose closed when it involves Sabarimala pilgrims.

The Harivaraasanam Project was created by Swamiji so that no devotee would suffer due to lack of water, shelter, overcrowding etc. during their divine journey. He spent 20 months walking through thick forests studying the climate, animal behaviour, researching the movement of people and materials to devise a plan for the smooth conductance of Sabarimala pilgrimage. Swamiji said it will prevent the occurence of stampedes.

Swamiji also started the ‘Clean Sabarimala Campaign‘. The dirt and filth accumulated in Pampa, Bhasmakulam etc. makes it unsightly and unhygienic. Swamiji spent 1 week cleaning the Sabarimala area and encouraging people to do so. This included manually removing the dead bodies of animals lying around, along with paper, plastic, and other waste.

However the media which today is crying hoarse about this pilgrimage did not care about it for years. They didn’t put pressure on the government to avoid a mishap, but are suddenly acting like they care so much about the pilgrims.

Why do they question Hindu belief? Everything in the world is founded on belief. You believe a man is your father because your mother tells you so. You believe her. Should you do DNA analysis for it? You believe your name because people call you by it. EVERYTHING IS BELIEF! Those who question are unable to do anything nor do they care about the common man. They can sit in their ivory towers and go on demoralising the common folk. The Sabarimala pilgrimage generates more money than the governments tourist department. This provides for poor, hungry and needy. Can these so-called experts and high-society intellectuals come forward and feed the starving millions of this country? The media is just trying to manipulate the feelings and sincerity of poor Hindus.  We must wake up to this reality and reject such absurdity.

Rather than find solutions to peoples problems , tv and newspapers are saying avoid the pilgrimage altogether. But let us support the Harivarasanam Project and make the government implement it. Let us make Sabarimala a world pilgrimage centre. It is in YOUR hands, the hands of every devout Hindu!
