Some Facts about Sonia Gandhi, President of India's ruling Party

Sonia Gandhi (of Italian origin) is the President of the Indian National Congress and wife of late PM Rajiv Gandhi. She holds a record of serving as Congress President for consecutive 10 years.

1. Sonia Gandhi is ONLY a high school graduate. Cambridge University has confirmed that they have no Sonia Maino on their alumni list.

2. In 1964, she went to study English at The Bell Educational Trust’s language school in the city of Cambridge.
She never went to University of Cambridge. She met Rajiv in the restaurant as she was working in a restaurant.

3. Should Sonia Gandhi become prime minister, her relatives in Italy would be fully entitled to round-the-clock protection by the Black Cat commandos at the Indian tax-payer’s expense.

4. During the 1971 war, while all Indians stood ready to fight for the Indian cause Sonia Maino and her husband Rajiv Gandhi went on vacation in Italy.

5. In 1977, when Indira Gandhi and Congress lost elections, Sonia Gandhi with her children and husband in tow took refuge of Italian embassy in New Delhi and Indira Gandhi, Sanjay and his Indian wife Maneka had to convince her to return.

6. Sonia married Rajiv in 1968 and was eligible to become Indian citizen 5 years later yet she did NOT become Indian citizen till 1983 (i.e.14 years after her marriage) This late bloom of Sonia’s love for India also was out of political consideration. In 1984, Rajiv, was heir apparent and most likely next prime minister. Sonia became an Indian overnight.

7. She has not given a single interview or offered any ideas on a single issue facing India now. Her only qualification is that she married a Gandhi.

8. Her Son-in law Robert Vadra (Husband of Priyanka gandhi) along with other VVIPs like HH the Dalai Lama and the Chief Justice of India, has been exempted from checking at airports. Others on the list include the President, the Prime Minister, former PMs and presidents and SPG protectees. This move has come under scrutiny since arguably more important entities like the Chiefs of Army, Navy and Air Force staff are not extended this waiver.

9. At the end of Rajiv Gandhi’s five years in office the Bofors Scandal broke, and Ottavio Quattrocchi an Italian business man believed to be involved, was said to be a friend of Sonia Gandhi, having access to the Prime Minister’s official residence.

10. Sonia and her children are estranged from Maneka Gandhi, the widow of Rajiv’s younger brother Sanjay Gandhi, and her son Varun Gandhi, who are both members of the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

    Really its shameful.
She is spoiling the environment of Indian politics.

  2. Now I can’t stop thinking about this. There was an episode of Mythbusters (one of my daughter’s favorite shows, go figure) where they did superhero stuff; they did manage to make a reasonable grappling-hook gun with a winch that could lift you up a wall, but they did show that it is very difficult to change clothes in a phone booth.
